Help Us Knock Out Parkinson’s

We are thrilled to Partner with Punch 4 Parkinson’s (P4P) to help knock out Parkinson’s disease. P4P is a charitable organization focused on developing, implementing and funding non-combat boxing programs for those suffering from Parkinson’s Disease. Research has shown that high-intensity exercise like boxing slows and oftentimes reverses the progression of Parkinson’s symptoms, and we’ve seen first-hand the remarkable physical and cognitive benefits.

How boxing can help people with Parkinson’s disease

High intensity exercise is proven to be beneficial for slowing the progression of Parkinson’s as well as other chronic diseases including MS and ALS. What is Parkinson’s Disease?

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that affects the brain and causes a progression of symptoms including tremors, slowness of movement, limb rigidity, as well as gait and balance problems. The cause remains largely unknown. Although there is no cure, treatment options vary and include medications and surgery. While Parkinson’s itself is not fatal, disease complications can be very serious. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) rated complications from PD as the 14th cause of death in the United States.

Why We Call Them Warriors

Parkinson’s sufferers, especially those in the advanced stages of the disease, fight every day to complete simple tasks that the rest of us take for granted. They combat debilitating symptoms of this terrible disease with the knowledge that their symptoms are going to get progressively worse over time. Our P4P Warriors have the willpower to get up each day and battle against these symptoms. They get to the gym and fight to regain control of their physicality and mentality. And for this, we call them Warriors.
